Practicum

The practicum in the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at ESIMar is the backbone of the curriculum and the subject area that carries most academic value in the syllabus: 80 credits out of a total of 240. From a teaching perspective, clinical practice, study and critical reflection sessions and simulation workshops are combined seamlessly to facilitate student's learning.

The curricular clinical practice sessions are structured within 4 subject areas (11 individual subjects) and compulsory. The course plans emphasize the development of general, cross-disciplinary and specific skills, through reflexive professional action performed in different care settings and levels. This facilitates knowledge transfer and interpretation.

To this end the School has its own care resources - the centres belonging to Mar Health Park - and partnerships agreements with both public and private institutions.

Goals	To enable students to learn how to provide basic professional care to healthy and sick people

Requirements	The student must have passed Integrated Nursing III and at least one of the previous Integrated Nursing subjects (I or II)

Goals	To enable students to develop professional skills in individualised care for older people, from the gerontological care perspective, in hospital, community and long-term care settings
Organisation	Clinical Practicum I: Five weeks in the first term Clinical Practicum II: Five weeks in the second term
Requirements	The student must have passed at least two of the three Introductory Practicum subjects (I, II or III)

Goals	To enable students to develop the necessary nursing skills to address: Unique and complex care situations in any care setting Critical health situations
Organisation	Advanced Practicum I: Nine weeks in the first term Advanced Practicum II: Ten weeks (3+7) in the second term Advanced Practicum III: Nine weeks in the third term Practicum retake period: Five weeks after the end of the third term
Requirements	The student must have passed both Clinical Practicum subjects (I and II)
