This study arises in response to the need to raise awareness of chronic migraine, a highly prevalent neurological disorder that disproportionately affects adult women and is often underestimated and rendered invisible by the healthcare system. Beyond physical pain, migraine imposes a significant emotional, social, and functional burden, frequently influenced by gender-related factors and by the lack of comprehensive care that acknowledges the subjective dimension of suffering. In this context, the nursing discipline, due to its closeness to patients and its holistic perspective, plays a key role in transforming care and promoting more humanised support for these women.

Within this framework, the project aims to interpret the impact of chronic migraine on the daily lives of women living in Barcelona. Using a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, the study seeks to gain a deeper understanding of their emotional experiences, coping strategies, and the barriers they encounter within the healthcare system.

The project is carried out by a team of nursing professionals from both clinical and academic settings. Through focus groups and the analysis of patients' narratives using Colaizzi's method, the study aims to generate knowledge that contributes to more empathetic, equitable, and patient-centred nursing care, promoting changes in health policies and greater awareness of this condition.
