At Hospital del Mar Higher School of Nursing (ESIHMar), we welcome students from all over the world who are looking for a world-class learning experience in one of the most dynamic healthcare environments in Europe. Joining our centre means being part of an innovative academic community, linked to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and located in the heart of Barcelona.
Available Programs
We offer different ways for you to carry out an academic or clinical stay with us:
- Erasmus+ (Studies and/or internships): for students from European institutions with an agreement who are looking for theoretical training or supervised clinical stays.
- SICUE (National Mobility): exchange programme for students from other Spanish universities.
- Bilateral agreements: specific agreements with universities outside Europe, facilitating a multicultural and global experience.
How does the process work?
To ensure a successful integration, we follow a structured admission protocol:
- Nomination process: Your home university must send us your official nomination within the established deadlines. ESIHMar Fact Sheet 2025-26
- Application and admission: Once nominated, you will receive instructions to complete your formal application and attach the necessary documentation.
- Academic and language requirements: * It is mandatory to prove a B2 level of English.
- We strongly recommend a B1 level of Spanish or Catalan to ensure effective communication with patients during clinical practices.
- Academic offer: you can consult our catalogue of subjects and clinical rotations to configure your Learning Agreement.
I have been accepted. What's next?
Congratulations! Once your place is confirmed, we start preparing your arrival.
- Document Management: signing of the study agreement and review of compulsory insurance (medical, accident and civil liability).
- Before arriving in Barcelona: information on visas (for non-EU students), accommodation and health requirements. It is essential to present the updated vaccination certificate.
- Arrival and welcome to ESIHMar: you will participate in a welcome session at ESIHMar where you will get to know the facilities, your coordinators and other international students.
- During your internship: you will be assigned an Erasmus Tutor who will monitor your clinical and academic progress, ensuring that you achieve your learning goals in a constantly supportive environment.
