Educational Model at ESIHMar-UPF

The educational model at ESIMar-UPF links to the model at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. This is thought from the versatility and diversity of situations and needs of each student, from the transdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity of individual, collective and collaborative learning; from the flexibility and openness of the programs; from the cooperation between society, business and university.

At the same time, ESIMar, as a center dedicated to the training of health professionals, aligns with and is inspired by the Buurtzorg cure model, a model based on individual and professional self-management.

The two models start from the perspective of putting the user at the center, making him the protagonist of his own learning process. Students are understood as a person open to the world, with the possibility of interacting with the environment, which, due to the experiences it generates, provides them with self-knowledge and autonomy in the development of their task as a constant learner throughout their lives. life and as a professional. In both models, the acquisition of the ability to learn to learn becomes capital in the path of achieving personal and professional autonomy and conscious and responsible freedom.

Learning self-management: The student is conceived as an individual aware of their own training needs. Their decisions and actions are understood to be based on universal values:

  • The student strives to improve their quality of life and create their own future.
  • The student learns what they want to learn and what they see useful.
  • The student owns a life experience, a previous knowledge or perception of the topics.
  • The student generates "warm" relationships that help them achieve their life purpose.

Informal network: the ESIMar-UPF keeps in mind the potential of the student's environment, the people surrounding them, as well as their family or informal network in the learning process. Informal relationships are respected, and the creation of a network with their classmates is encouraged for peer learning to be generated/produced, just as it happens in real life.

ESIMar-UPF's Team: ESIMar-UPF's research and teaching staff is available from the first day to walk with the student on their journey. Faculty seek to ease their learning, management, and development by providing the necessary resources and support, including the student and their closest network in their own learning process.

Formal network: The ESIMar-UPF's team works to incorporate learning solutions that involve professional groups. At this level it is important to create relationships of trust, building a professional network that includes employer institutions, professional associations, foundations, companies, the university itself, and society.
