Values

Commitment

We seek to contribute actively and voluntarily to social, economic and environmental well-being and improvement, strengthening our connections with our immediate environment and with all the individuals and groups with whom we engage. Commitment entails assuming responsibilities with integrity, acting with ethical coherence and maintaining a critical, objective and mindful perspective on reality. It invites us to become proactively involved, fostering creativity, and both personal and collective engagement in order to respond to present and future challenges, placing people's health and care at the centre.

Sustainability

ESIHMar understands sustainability as an essential principle to preserve the balance between the human health, environmental health and animal health, recognising their independence within a planetary perspective. We believe in a model of education and professional practice that promotes environmental care, the respect of ecosystems and the responsible use of resources, ensuring the well-being of present and future generations. We work to build healthy, resilient and equitable education and care environment, committed to social justice, the protection of the planet and the transformation of the health system towards a sustainable and global approach.

Innovation

We understand innovation as a methodical and responsible process, aimed at generating reachable improvements. Innovating means to design with purpose, experiment with rigor and evaluate the impact, incorporating digital tools, emerging technologies and advanced pedagogical and participatory methodologies, while never losing sight of the human dimension.

Innovation that is based on the needs of people and of health and educational environments, working collaboratively and interdisciplinary to transform the knowledge into applicable and socially relevant solutions. We do so through critical thinking, learning from mistakes and a committing to responsible, ethical and sustainable science that contributes to the advancement of the profession and to collective well-being.

Empathy

We conceive empathy as the ability to genuinely connect with another person's experience, recognising their feelings and needs without judgment and from a respectful and safe presence. Drawing on theoretical and methodological models such as Internal Family Systems and Nonviolent Communication, we understand that each person integrates numerous experiences and internal parts that deserve to be heard with interest, care and dignity.

Empathy requires active listening, curiosity and emotional self-regulation to share without imposing, offering a space of trust that facilitates understanding and connection. We are committed to cultivate a mindful communication - observing, feeling, asking and validating - that places relational care at the centre. From this stance, we promote an educational and caring community where everyone can express themselves, feel seen and recognised, fostering personal growth, well-being, and the humanisation of health.

Transformation

We conceive transformation as a continuous process of personal, professional and institutional evolution. We are committed to drive positive change through reflexion, critical evaluation and the determination to move towards more equitable, innovative and sustainable education and health models. Transformation is built through collaborative work, active participation, and the conviction that every action can generate impact. We are committed to educate professionals capable of leading the future of nursing and contributing to a more just and healthier society.
